Holidaying with the Fujifilm X100VI: A Fujifanboys Travel Diary

When it comes to a family holiday, the very first thing, I think about is my camera setup.
How much space do I have?
How much am I willing to carry?

Truth be told, after days of deliberation on what gear to bring along—especially when travelling with my daughter—this was our entire camera and lens kit for Japan:

  1. Fujifilm XP140
  2. Fujifilm X-M5
  3. Fujifilm X100VI
  4. Fujifilm GFX100 II
  5. XF 27mm F2.8
  6. Viltrox 9mm F2.8
  7. GF 45mm
  8. GF 110mm F2
  9. GF 100–200mm

Some may think I’m crazy—and to some extent, I agree. My default will always be the GFX system. The image quality is simply outstanding, especially when the scene presents itself and everything aligns.

That said, as the title of this blog post suggests—Holidaying with the X100VI—I must say that shooting with the X100VI has been the most liberating experience of all. Compact, discreet, and always ready, it allowed me to focus less on gear and more on moments. The disadvantage of a family holiday is shooting time is always limited. Waking up earlier before the gals and go for a precious photowalk. Pocket of time while waiting for the ladies. Most importantly, these may not be award winning photos but precious memories documented during our trip to Osaka and the region around.

I’ll let my holiday snaps do the talking.

Here are 100 photographs taken with what I consider the ultimate EDC:
the Fujifilm X100VI. Have a look and let me know which photo do you like best in the comment below.

This is my set-up for X100VI. I added a @squarehood. Comes with a build-in diffusion filter.

  1. Thank you so much. I am just very new to the Fujifilm X100VI and try to learn the camera better. Did you always shoot with the squarehood diffusion?

    1. Hello Michael, I like how the hood fits unto the X100VI; and thus the diffusion filter is always there. Unless I know a particular shot that I really need to shot without the diffusion filter, I will unscrew it.
