If a GFX do get married with a X-T2 and if they ever have
an offspring; it will definitely looks like the new X-H1 in
the design department. This camera certainly inherits
certain design cues from its parents. It has sexy dials from X-T2.
A firm mini grip and top plate sub LCD monitor that mimic a
mini GFX. Below is a happy family portraits of all 3 of these
amazing camera together.

So what makes X-H1 different or special in the Fujifilm
lineup? I guess many would like to know what is the
differences especially between X-T2 and X-H1. Lets starts
with the Stills first and followed with the video aspect.
Not going into details as one could easily find these
information on the web. Rather just wanna share my
experience with this pretty amazing camera.
IBIS is definitely top on the list. Up to 5.5 stop of stabilization!
This is the first for X-series. A 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis
gyro sensor. According to Fujifilm this dedicated dual processor
work in partnership to carry out processing and correction
approximately 10,000 times every second. This means one
could shoot with a little more confidence with those amazing
Fujinon non IS prime lenses in very low light condition.
Suddenly the XF16-55 non IS F2.8 lens becomes very
attractive when mated with X-H1.

My immediate concern was will there be a conflict of
technology if I were to use a XF lens with IS? As we know
too many cooks spoil the soup. According to Fujifilm;
they have iron out this issue and they work with one
another in perfect harmony. There no chip connection to
the camera via an adaptor on any 3rd party lenses. Therefore
I think IBIS will not understand what focal length it is reading
and thus IBIS will not work well. I will have an update on this
again.

Next, Eterna film simulation. I have never heard of Eterna
during my film days less shooting a roll with it. What it says
on the X-H1 when you switch to Eterna/CINEMA : Soft color
and rich shadow tone suitable for film look movie. The colors
are indeed soft with red popping more. There is also a very
subtle overall light blue cast. It did took me awhile to get use
to it. I personally feel Eterna simulation works beautifully
with video more, for that straight out of the box cinematic
feel. Thus saving heaps of post production work time.

Auto Focus is certainly faster than X-T2. Its not the numbers
on the papers that say so. I COULD FEEL IT! As you can see
X-H1 is bigger in size than X-T2; therefore its also heavier.
About 25% heavier. Again if you are a canon user, X-H1 is still
20% lighting than Canon 5D IV. The LCD is 3 inch which is
same as X-T2 but its touch screen now.
The new vertical grip for X-H1 is also bigger in size compare
to X-T2’s vertical grip. Its also takes an extra 2 batteries. One
could safely takes 900 shots or more with this set-up. The
EVF has a class leading 3.69 million dots and a refresh rate
of 100 fps.

Before I proceed with the video part; I would like to address
that I am not a videographer and my greatest achievement is
using my iMovie to create a holiday video. Correct me if I am
wrong on the information below on all the video jargon.
X-H1 could record F-log in camera directly in a SD card and
X-T2 can’t achieve this in camera. As for X-H1, when you record
via HDMI to a external recorder; its at 4-:2:2 instead of 4:2:0 in
camera. Similar like stills; in video one could also record in
Eterna film simulation. I say it again, I feel its work even better
for video.
Below is a link of some 4K video footage/stills that I have done all
handheld with a pre-production X-H1 and edited in Davinci Resolve.
Its was my first time trying out this free software. What a upgrade
from iMovie. Hopefully this will inspire myself to try more video
in the future with X-H1.

Other worthy feature includes Flicker reduction mode, Build-in
high-performance microphone(24bit/48Khz), video bit rate option
of 50,100 and 200 Mbps. Full HD at 120p.
Next will be the X mount MK Cine lenses. This is something new
to me. But in due time; when I have the opportunity I will certainly
gave a shot and see what makes these lenses different compare
with XF lenses in the video department.

Finally, if you are shooting stills most of the time; I don’t think X-H1
will be the ideal camera. I would rather wait for X-T3. If you love
shooting still and video; X-H1 will certainly be a more balance
camera. Having said this; X-H1 is definitely a stronger contender
vs X-T2 at this present moment. If you own a X-T2 and is thinking
of getting another X-T2 as a second camera; maybe you should
consider a X-H1. Having a X-T2 and a X-H1 seem like a very good
combo for working professional. Cheers and do follow me in
