I was looking for a short beach holiday somewhere along the line of colorful Phuket
or enchanting Bali. After some research everything seem too familiar to me. And I
decided to cast the net further in the quest for something a bit different.
I decided to visit the south of Taiwan. Kenting is Taiwan beach region. Its about 2
hour ride from Taiwan’s second largest city, Kaohsiung. Our home away from home
is a hotel that I can’t describe in a word or two. Its quite isolated. Its a blend of modern
architecture and old world charm. A feeling of familiarity and yet it surprises. Every
part of this hotel is a feast to the eyes and rest for the soul.

All the rooms are name with a year. Ours was 1930. Its a 3 level apartment. Level
one is a living area with a large square window. Its furnish with lovely vintage furnitures.
To make it even special for me there is even a pig with wings! For those who don’t know
me, my URL is http://www.pigscanfly.com
As we climb up to level two; we are greeted with another large square window that
frame a beautiful view. A view of the lawn with white farm fences and the vast Pacific
ocean. Level two is divided in 4 area. Vintage bathtub, Shower area, WC and a vanity
area. At the end of the walk way is a door that opens up to a balcony of the lovely hill
view at the back of the hotel.
On level three is the simple bedroom that sleeps 6 people. There is no window as this
is the attic But we are delighted with 2 small sky windows for moon gazing and counting
twinkle twinkle little stars before we shut our eyes on the cosy beds.

The hotel has a small lobby area that is filled with heaps of vintage collectables. Vintage
cameras to Earmes lounge chair. Bicycles to old magazines. Makes one feels its been
transported to the 50’s. There is only one dining area which sits about 50 pax. As its a
small hotel; there is no buffet spread but rather the breakfast set, is second to none. Did
I mention every breakfast set is prepared one at a time. Simple, refreshing and delicious.
With the Pacific Ocean as your companion; there is nothing more I could ask.

As the afternoon fades into evening; its “Pignic” time! Great music fills the air from the
mobile bus kitchen. This kitchen serves up beers and yummy finger food like cheese
sticks, sausages and fries. There is a big bin filled with lovely picnic rug for anyone to
used. This is my favorite time of the day at this property. Very relaxing and a bohemian
feel to it. Great place for kids to run about too. I could definitely do this for the rest my
life. This property definitely left a deep foot print with me!
