Wonderful 18mm by Voigtlander

This is the 5th Voigtlander lens that I had reviewed for X-mount . And I must say as a Fujifanboys; I might be caving in.First of all, I have never been a fan of manual focus lens. With each review; my affection for Voigtlander lensesgrew stronger. My dislike for manual focus lenses is slowly fading…arhhhhh….my wallet! The question is when will I be purchasing my first Voigtlander lens.

There are 2 things I love about Voigtlander lenses. 

1.Design
All the lenses are beautifully design. The shape, fonts on the lens, focus ring and the build quality are of very high quality. It makes me feels special using it. For the smaller lenses, I love the focus tab too. Thus making the photographer’s manual focusing experience a joy to use. In a nutshell these lenses are well made and feels good on the hand.  

2. Image Quality 
This is where it shines. Where all the magic happens. Generally speaking Voigtlander lenses are sharp. They are not clinically biting sharp. Sharp enough and CA is very well control even for the 35mm F0.9 lens. At F0.9 the CA way better than all the china made F0.95 35mm lenses. It’s the way these lenses render that stole my heart.  Words cannot truly describe this magical experience.

As for the new Voigtlander 18mm Color-Skopar F2.8 lens, its another stellar performance from Voigtlander. It may not be an F0.9, F1.2 or even an F2 lens. But this preproduction 18mm F2.8 lens that I have been using close to a week, did not disappoint. And I must add, this is an amazing compact and sexy everyday lens. As I have mention, this is a pre-production set, so I am afraid I don’t have any information on the specification and price of this lens at this point of writing. In fact, it  didn’t even come with a box. LOL. I guess the best way is to let the photos do the talking. Enjoy.
