I was pretty excited about this new lens. Especially both its other siblings had been
performing very well. Primarily the XF 23mm F2 and XF35mm F2. With the birth
of the new 50mm F2; this completes the trilogy set-up. Small and light, Fast AF
and WR. And for a price; it should be much lesser that the XF56mm F1.2 and the
more expensive APD version.
So is the new 50mm F2 a poor man’s portrait lens? Again its not that cheap to
start off with. This mid-telephoto lens is compact and lightweight design
features 9 elements in 7 groups, including one aspherical ED lens, and
has an inner focusing system, driven by a stepping motor for fast and silent
autofocusing.
Weighting at just 200 grams, its still has a metal exterior. Its uses the same
design style as XF35mmF2 R WR and XF23mmF2 R WR for a robust, premium
feel.
Here are some pictures taken with XF50mm F2 WR and it doesn’t disappoint.
