It’s pretty strange, that this season I have been testing gears that is not under my radar. I have tried the XF27mm F2.8 and didn’t like it because it’s a F2.8? I can’t remember why. Maybe I felt the AF wasn’t not fast enough. Of course this is from a perspective of a photographer who doesn’t shoot street.
Moving forward and years later; I am now presented with XF27mmF2.8 MK II. I guess its best companion for now, has to be the new X-E4. OK. Let’s get the cat out of the bag. It’s about the same size as the MK 1version. It’s new feature is all what we always wanted. An aperture ring and WR! Optically I think it’s the same. That is the end of this blog. Just kidding.

Now, I will share my view on this lens. I am not a fan of both X-E series and XF27mm.There is something magical about what the designers at Fujifilm have done. As I don’t have any expectation, I begin to just shoot. Get familiar with the layoutof the X-E4 and the focal length of the XF27mm MK ll with it new aperture ring.
As the day pass; I effortlessly use it as my daily camera. Easy peasy. The set-up is rather small and light. Which make shooting street effortless. I am 23mm shooter. That why I love shooting with mine X100V or my Xpro3 with XF23mm F1.4. But strangelyI learn to live with this focal length and having fun using it. Better late than never.
As time passes I begin to understand why many photographer loves the X-E series with a XF27mm lens. At this paring is really lovely. It’s small and discreet. If one is looking for small lens for street. The XF27mm F2.8 is probably the best choice. I think I might just get both the X-E4 and XF27mm F2.8 WR MKll. Below are some snaps taken with the this new lens.

What is that lens hood setup? It looks great with the new 27mm
Its from @squarehood
The XF27mmF2.8 R WR is NOT an MK II lens. If the manufacturer does not label or call it an Mk II lens, then it isn’t.
