Jewel with X-T3 & X100F

Hopefully I am not the last photographer in Singapore to visit our relatively new Jewel at Changi Airport. I have seen tons of amazing photos of  the Jewel. This morning I brought a X-T3, XF10-24mm with a 10 stop ND filter, XF90mm and X100F for my maiden visit.

I must say when I first saw the Vortex waterfall; it did took my breath away. Truly an amazing modern mega structure with a touch of nature. A big touch! Feels like I am living in a city in outer space with a forest and a waterfall in the middle. Within 15 minutes of walk about; I was stop by a space cadet or should I say, a Jewel staff. I was informed I am not able to use my tripod as its deem as professional or professional gear. So I guess if one uses a GFX100 handheld its OK but if you mount a XF10 on a tripod you are consider using professional gear or deem as a professional. We live in strange world. I just went back to my car and store up the tripod in the boot.

It’s certainly mandatory to photograph the Vortex waterfall. Which I did without my tripod plus a 10 stop ND filter. I just place on the railing and try to hold as well as I could.

After walking around the Jewel; I decided to rest my fat ass and just enjoy the beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Below is a series of street photo shot seated on the same spot. This must be the most relax series ever. I guess sometime we just need to slow down and let all our subject comes into our frame. Instead of trooping around trying to hunt for the shot. Feels a little bit like a wildlife photographer waiting for the Siberian tiger except I am waiting for my character to fill my frame. Enjoy.

  1. I don’t understand why you used the ND filter, since you could have easily use a high shutter speed instead and not worried about camera shaking. Confused!
