Ninety. A number that represent a high score. Is it the same with the XF90mm WR?
This is one lens that is not in everyone wish list. In the world of DSLR; this will be a
135mm lens. Not a popular lens too. But those who owns it, knows what they are in for.
Its a specialize lens for a few specific purpose. To me it could be any purpose. I can
shoot macro, portraits, street, wedding, fashion, landscape, food. The list goes on.
Except for selfie! There you go, everything except selfie.

I have the privileged to housed both the XF50-140mm WR and XF56mm APD in my
stable. Both are great lenses that produces razor sharp portraits with lovely bokeh.
I love them both. Thinking aloud; why do I need a XF90mm in my stable? Which is
basically a portrait lens.
Last sunday I brought my daughter, Summer; on a play date with Ian. We spent the
whole afternoon at Gardens By the Bay. Guess what? I am gonna challenge myself
with just one lens for this trip. I decided to mount a XF90mm on the X-T1. Its gonna
be fun and challenging.

First of all, I feel the XF90mm rather tall compare with the XF56mm. About 30% taller.
Again its almost double the focal length. If I were to compare with the weight of XF50-140mm;
then the 90mm is almost half the weight of the zoom lens.
There are days I just needed a zoom to cover a specific project. As a zoom the XF50-140mm
is definitely more versatile. If I am shooting a portraits session; then I will pack the
XF56mm APD and XF90mm in my bag. Together both this lenses weights even lesser then
the XF50-140mm.
I am glad both X-T1 and XF90mm are weather resistant. So I am now fearless when shooting
at the water play area. Instead of worrying the water splashes, I now concentrate on nailing
that shot.

Ian’s parents.

The XF90mm is a very fast lens. Pretty light weight. Auto focus is quick. Bokeh is the lens
middle name. Do you think this Might Ninety should have a parking lot in my dry cabinet?

hi ivan,
from your images taken with this mighty lens, it should be parked for good with a camera, not a cabinet ;).
