Beast Mode ON. XF200mm F2 WR (NSFW)

XF200mm F2. It’s Big. The biggest badass I ever tried in the XF line.
It’s a serious professional piece of kit that is build like a tank. If you
live to shoot sports, wildlife and bikini babe at the beach please read
on.
As some of you may know I live in sunny Singapore. It’s a city-state.
We don’t have a race track even though we host a Formula One race.
The closest thing to a safari is at our local Zoo. It’s so last-minute and
therefore I couldn’t find a beautiful bikini model. So where shall I take
this lens? Instead of just admiring how handsome this lens looks?
I decided to bring this lens to a mystical retro theme park in Singapore.
Har Par Villa. The last time I was there was maybe 25 years ago! Built
in 1937 by two Burmese-Chinese brother. Who was the developers
of the famous Tiger Balm. Tiger Balm Gardens was the original park
name. Even my parking lot look so cool.
It’s in this park where I could photograph topless babes, really crazy
wildlife and my own car. I will let the photos do the talking.

I also brought two other lenses for a simple comparison about the
focal length and bokeh effect.  XF56mm F1.2 APD and XF90mm F2.
Both these two lenses are consider one of the best lenses in its field.

AF is silent and really fast considering the sheer size of the glass.
105mm in diameter.  Inside the XF200mm’s bag comes with an off white
XF1.4 F2 WR Teleconverter.  Once mounted; one will be shooting at
F2.8 at 280mm focal length. Image stabilizer works beautifully. This is
essential as it’s a heavy lens and a good OIS is very important.

If you are familiar with GFX’s new GF250mm lens. XF200mm also
has four Focus Control Button at the lens front to enable autofocus
and focus lock.
After using XF200mm for the last couple of days; I must say this lens
is indeed created for professional who needed that reach and speed.
It’s essentially created for sports and wildlife photography. Secondary;
maybe some architectural and portraits. I personally find the distance
between the subject and the photographer is a bit too far as a portrait
lens. Having say that, it’s very stunning when you do use it for outdoor
portraits. Beautiful separation.

Downside? I have three to say. The first two will have to be the size
and weight of this lens. Weighting at about 2.2kg. The third is the cost
of it. XF200mm is an amazing lens that many will drooling over it. If you
could stomach all this three downside you have a winner here. Shooters
will not be disappointed. Probably Fujifilm finest lens in the X-series
lens line-up. Unless XF33mm F1.0 comes along.
